Questions & stuff.
probably yours too
Is it actually free?+
Yes, for now. It's free while we're early: no card, nothing to buy. Paid packs are coming later.
What file types work?+
MP4, MOV or WebM, up to 20MB per clip. It's built for phone footage; GoPro and drone files in those formats may work too, but we haven't checked them yet. Short and steady is best, with the surfer clearly in frame.
Do you train on my clips?+
No. We don't use your videos to train AI, and our AI provider doesn't train on them either. Every session is private to you: only you can open its page, and nothing shows up in the community feed. Still, think about who else is in the frame before you upload.
How accurate are the notes?+
They're generated by a state-of-the-art AI model looking at frames sampled from your actual clip — a good read, not a perfect one, and timestamps are approximate. If a note looks off, hit "Re-analyze" and you'll get a fresh take.
What can wave coaching see?+
Coaching looks at still frames across one wave, not the moving video. So it can comment on what a still shows: body position, stance, your line and where you are on the wave, and your timing against the breaking section. It can't judge speed, flow or power, and it's told not to try, nor to score technique or compare you with pro surfers. The one number it's asked for is a "commitment" read of how committed your surfing looks in those frames. It's an AI's read, so treat it as a second opinion, not a verdict.
Can my surf school use it?+
Yes, in a simple way for now: each surfer signs in and uploads their own clips, and every session stays private to the surfer who uploaded it. Sharing sessions with a coach isn't switched on yet.
